Knowledge industry is the one that depends on knowledge of the employees for its production rather than materials and physical work. Examples of such industries are information technology, Legal services firm, Healthcare, etc. Knowledge workers are those that contribute to such industries by their knowledge rather than through physical efforts. Managing such workers is a lot different than managing traditional workers.
